Roberto Sega is an architect and urban planner with a PhD in Architecture and Urban Sciences (EPFL 2018). Graduated at the University Institute of Architecture IUAV of Venice in 2010 with a thesis on Hanoi’s urban development in Vietnam, he won in 2005 an Erasmus grant at the ETSAB in Barcelona. From 2010 to 2014, he collaborated with the architecture firm Studio Associato Bernardo Secchi e Paola Viganò in Milan on several projects of different scales such as the Greater Paris project and the Greater Moscow project. He has been scientific assistant at the IUAV and tutor at the international workshop EMU (European Master in Urbanism). Since 2014, he has been living in Switzerland and working at the Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne where he obtained the PhD degree thanks to his research on the role of industrial production in the construction of the Alpine city-territory. As a scientific collaborator of the Laboratory of Urbanism, he taught for six year in the studio ALPS, he has been responsible for the “Productive Habitats” research cluster and coordinator of the interdisciplinary team of the Habitat Research Center of the EPFL for the Urban-Architectural and Landscape Consultation of Greater Geneva. He has recently been a visiting researcher at GSSI in Italy (2016), at UVA in Virginia-USA (2017) and at DIDA Regional Design Lab at the University of Florence (2019). He currently works as a consultant in an architecture and urban planning firm in Lausanne and participates as an expert in various research projects in Switzerland and abroad. In recent years he has followed several master theses at EPFL and is now co-directing a PhD thesis at the ETSAB of Barcelona.
